Kumiko was born to be the middle child of three siblings. Her family is a simple family and does not have a big influence. Since childhood, she already has a physically weak so she often sick. Even so, she still tried to be excited in living her life. She has a slight problem communicating with her biological brother who is cold to her. But she is very close to the younger brother, Kou, who occupies the youngest position. In a way, Kiira and her didn't get along because they didn't like each other ― that's what Kumiko thought. Especially with the two of them who are very contradictory making them reluctant to interact even though they really want to.
Initially, the Kumiko’s family was a simple family where her mother worked as a clerk in a company while her father was lazing and unemployed at home. Her father was very wasteful in financial matters, so he always spent money for alcohol and other useless things. As a result, their family became worse and worse and made his father yell at his mother who was struggling to work. Moreover, with three more children who must be raised. One day right at the age of ninth, their finances worsened and at that time the father also desperately needed money. Because her mother has insurance for their family. Kumiko, in fact, was a sick child ― His father tried to kill her in the bathtub to get the insurance money to coincide with winter. Murder with the intention of disguising it into an accident was unsuccessful because of her brother, Kiira stopped. Kumiko almost died at that time, because of the very cold water temperature. However, her mother did not mind it. Her father had also tried to kill her for the second and third time, but was always thwarted by Kiira.

And instead listened to a song sung by several strangers. At the time she returned, her house had a fire and killed all of her family besides Kiira who was not there. As a result, because of that incident, she was adopted by her neighbor, the Akasaki family. It did not take long after the incident, she was taken away from her home area because Naoto thought that it would disturb Kumi. Now, she lives with Naoto's family. She still uses the Nikishima clan even though she has been adopted and Naoto asked him to replace it though. She also moved to Yumenosaki since Naoto and Eichi know each other.
Kumiko is a sick girl who have moods often change, cheerful and childish. She likes to be spoiled with someone who is already close to her, but when she meets a stranger, she will be very quiet. Not infrequently, she often sulking for something that is not in accordance with her wishes. Even so, this girl also often noticed the comfort of people and did not want to be dominated by her selfishness. So that when angry or sulking, she does not void it outright. Sometimes, she becomes tsundere because of his childish nature and is not good at expressing her real emotions or thoughts. Kumiko also often gives encouragement, positive energy or offers as much help as possible because she does not like seeing someone in distress ― it seems to see herself.
